Driver wanted on outstanding warrants flees traffic stop

A man wanted on outstanding warrants took police for a wild chase on Friday afternoon.

Officers first attempted to execute a traffic stop on a vehicle associated to a person with outstanding arrest warrants.

That’s when the driver immediately fled north down Victoria Street.

While officers didn’t pursue in the interest of public safety, moments later RCMP began receiving reports of a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of 8th Avenue and Vancouver Street.

Police found the suspect vehicle had collided with another vehicle before the man fled on foot and then into another vehicle.

That vehicle was located near the intersection of 3rd Avenue and Victoria Street.

The vehicle was stopped and the two occupants, aged 42 and 31, were taken into custody.

The lone occupant of the vehicle that was struck by the suspect vehicle, was transported to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

An investigation is in its beginning stages.
