Trio of suspects charged in 2022 Penticton murders

Police in British Columbia's Okanagan region say three suspects have been arrested and charged in connection with the murders of two 30-year-olds whose remains were found near Penticton nearly three years ago.

A statement from the RCMP says the BC Prosecution Service has approved a charge of first-degree murder against Jilane King in the killing of Douglas Barker.

King has also been charged with accessory after the fact in the killing of both Barker and Alannah Brown.

The Mounties say Simon Bourbonnais has been charged with manslaughter in Brown's death, in addition to the unlawful confinement of Brown, along with charges of indignity to human remains and accessory after the fact in both killings.

The third suspect is Tyler Stuart, who police say has been charged with accessory after the fact and indignity to human remains relating to both victims.

A previous RCMP statement from October 2024 said firefighters from Summerland had found two bodies near Kickininee Provincial Park on Sept. 15, 2022.

It said Barker and Brown, both from Penticton, had been seen alive the day before.

In the latest statement, Supt. Sanjay Wijayakoon says investigators are still actively working on the case and they're urging anyone with information to come forward.
