Like driving?
Like driving a vehicle loaded with tassles, floral arrangements, giant peaches, regular peaches, two princesses and a queen while being cheered and applauded by enormous crowds as you go by?
Then the Penticton Peach Festival has just the position for you -- a volunteer parade float driver.
See that float in the photo above, calmly and steadily rolling along Lakeshore Drive during last weekend's Peter Bros. Grand Parade? That's the one we're talking about. And the Peach Fest folks are ready to field emails and phone calls right now.
Applicants must hold a valid Class 4 or 5 driver's license and a valid passport too, as some of the festivals and events the float attends are south of the border.
The successful candidate will also, according to the Peach Fest, "be an enthusiastic individual with a penchant for volunteering and adventure," and be physically fit, as some setup and takedown is required.
And don't be thinking the role is confined to Penticton. The Peach Festival Float, and its driver, will drop by a dozen or more festivals and events each calendar year, many on weekends.
"Our parade float," says Tuesday's media release, "is a symbol of our community spirit and plays a central role in these events, spreading awareness about Penticton as a tourism destination and bringing joy and excitement to spectators."
