Rona’s Penticton location has been handed a significant fine from WorkSafeBC.
The agency hit the company with a $330,507.98 fine on May 19 after an inspection at the Penticton workyard.
During the inspection, WorkSafeBC found a large storage rack that had visible damage to its vertical members and cross-bracing.
No information was available about the rack’s rated capacity or loading and unloading instructions, the agency noted, and a stop-use order was issued.
According to WorkSafeBC, Rona failed to ensure that the worn or damaged storage racks were repaired or replaced.
“The firm also failed to ensure that the rated capacity was posted and readily visible to workers, and that instructions for loading, unloading, and maintaining the rack according to the manufacturer were readily available in the workplace,” explained a news release.
WorkSafeBC added that these were all repeated violations.
