Pierre Poilievre will be in the Okanagan on Wednesday.
The federal Conservative leader will hold a Bring It Home Rally at the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre.
The doors will open at 6:30 pm and it’s open to the public.
Poilievre’s Okanagan itinerary and timeline for his trip to the region is not publicly available at this time.
Wednesday’s stop in Penticton will mark his first official trip to the South Okanagan city since winning the Conservative leadership race in September.
While he bypassed the area during the Conservative leadership race in 2022, party members overwhelmingly supported him and he claimed more than 80% of the vote in the South Okanagan-West Kootenay riding.
The riding as a whole, however, has been in the hands of NDP MP Richard Cannings since 2015.
Cannings beat out Conservative candidate Marshall Neufeld by nearly 5,000 votes in 2015 before narrowly-beating Conservative candidate Helena Konanz by less than 800 votes in 2019.
It was another battle between Cannings and Konanz in 2021, but the incumbent MP ended up restoring a bit of his cushion from 2015 and beat the Conservative hopeful by nearly 4,000 votes.
Poilievre, who spent this past weekend at the Calgary Stampede, has served as the MP for the Carleton area in Ottawa for nearly two decades.
