It’s almost time for Penticton’s newest festival to make its debut.
The SummerCamp RibFest is just a little over two weeks away and residents are reminded to bring their appetite for the inaugural festival.
The event is a new vision of the former RibFest that was announced in April.
It will feature BBQ from some of the top rated ribbers in Canada, music, games, artisan booths and more.
“The teams at The Festival Company and The Narrow Group, led by Okanagan born and raised Billie Jo Aasen, has been hard at work bringing the RibFest back to life,” organizers say.
The event will also support Ambassadors of Compassion through their charitable partner, the LIFTED Youth and Mental Health Foundation.
Attendees can expect to see the return of champion ribbers like Boss Hog’s Gator BBQ, Prairie Smoke & Spice and Grizzly BBQ along with Penticton’s own multi-champion Smoke Dem Bones.
Besides barbecued brisket, ribs, pulled pork and chicken, festival-goers will also have a chance to visit a variety of food trucks.
That includes ParadICE making Hawaiian Shaved Ice, Our Little Donut Factory serving up hot and fresh donuts, and Twisted Chopsticks Eatery’s Asian fusion and vegan options, organizers note.
In-between snacks, people can also wander through Artisan Alley to explore a range of makers and craft vendors.
To top of the great three-day event, attendees will be able to relax and enjoy the tunes of Jack & Jill, Penticton performer Dane Bateman and country singer Mark Ledlin.
SummerCamp Ribfest Penticton will take place from noon to 10 pm on Sept. 13, from 11 am to 10 pm on Sept. 14 and from 11 am to 8 pm on Sept. 15.
