The City of Penticton is reminding residents about the annual Cram the Cruiser event happening this week.
On Friday, members of the RCMP, community policing, fire department, bylaw department, search and rescue, border services agency and BC Corrections will be collecting donations in support of the Salvation Army Food Bank.
Volunteers will be at the Real Canadian Superstore from 11 am to 3 pm.
Bylaw Services officer Travis Mills says the goal is to collect more than 1,000 pounds of food donations.
“This will be the third year we’ve done Cram the Cruiser and the response has been overwhelming,” says Mills.
“Throughout the year, we see first-hand the struggles that many people are experiencing and this year has been a tough one for many. The goal of Cram the Cruiser is to make the season a little brighter.”
Items that are most needed include crackers, soup, cereal, pasta, toiletries, Kraft Dinner, canned vegetables, canned proteins and financial donations.
