Penticton residents invited to see behind the scenes of how the city operates

It takes a lot of moving parts to keep a community running, and the City of Penticton is inviting its residents to get a behind-the-scenes look.

Taking place on May 22, the City is hosting its annual Public Works Week Open House at the City Yards located at 616 Okanagan Ave. E.

The free event will run from 9 am to 3 pm and feature outdoor stations with interactive displays about services, including electrical, water, sewer, garbage collection, parks, roadwork, transit and more.

“We’re excited to invite everyone back for our annual open house, which shines a light on the services that keep our community running smoothly,” said Kristen Dixon, general manager of infrastructure.

“While this has become a popular field trip for local schools, we also invite members of the public to drop by and learn more about the people, work and infrastructure that deliver your essential services.”

The open house coincides with National Public Works Week and this year’s theme is ‘people, purpose, presence.’

Registration at this link is required for groups larger than 10 people.
