The City of Penticton has received funding from the provincial Active Transportation Infrastructure program for the final section of the Lake-to-Lake bike route.
On Tuesday, the city said it received $500,000.
According to the release, the complete cycling route is estimated to cost up to $8 million, which includes all costs associated with the separated bike lanes, intersection and sidewalk improvements as well as storm system alterations along the route.
The provincial and federal government have provided $5.4 million towards the route, as of April 2024.
The 6.7 kilometre protected bike lane will connect South Main Street to Skaha Lake and is expected to be completed later this year.
