Penticton RCMP say man offering candy to young children ‘doesn’t pose any threat of harm’

An investigation into an elderly man who was reportedly offering young children candy in Penticton has concluded.

The Penticton RCMP was told about the man around 1:30 pm on Aug. 12.

There was concern over the fact that he was offering the young children this candy in the 2000 block of South Main Street.

Officers were able to locate and identify the man today.

“Although the actions of the man were suspicious and concerning, after a thorough investigation, officers are confident the man doesn’t pose any threat of harm to any child,” explained Cst. James Grandy.

Despite the apparent innocence of his actions, Grandy said that the man has been encouraged to stop offering children candy.
