Penticton bylaw officers, RCMP officers and members of the fire department and sheriffs’ service will be collecting donations for residents in need this weekend.
The annual Cram the Cruiser event is set to return to Cherry Lane Mall on Saturday to collect food and toy donations for the Salvation Army Food Bank.
Volunteers will be on site from noon to 4 pm to collect non-perishable food and toys for families and residents in need of a little extra help this holiday season.
“We just want to do our part to make the season a little brighter for people who are having a tough time,” says bylaw enforcement officer Travis Mills.
“A big part of all our jobs is seeing residents in challenging moments. This year has been a struggle for many, we know food bank usage is up and we hope to make the season a bit happier.”
The Salvation Army is in need of crackers, soup, cereal, pasta, toiletries, Kraft Dinner, canned vegetables, canned proteins and financial donations.
Residents can stop by Cherry Lane Mall to drop off their donations. City council members will also be on site to hand out hot chocolate.
