The first-ever Peter Bros. Grand Parade under the watch of newly-elected Peach Festival prez Shawna Guitard hit the streets Saturday morning at 10 am, and the sidewalks in all the key spots were, as is typical for the event, packed with onlookers.
This year, they were treated to a procession with virtually no gaps and more than 80 regional, domestic and international entries.
Moreover, from PentictonNow's vantage point at the intersection of Winnipeg Street and Lakeshore Drive, the parade moved as quickly as any Peach Fest parade in recent memory.
"We had more than 80 entries and several from the US, including our good friends the Portland Rosarians," said Guitard after it was all over.
"With many local groups and businesses represented it was a fantastic Peter Bros. Paving Grand Parade."
Guitard was quick to point out that the 2023 edition owes its success to volunteer parade director Matthew Quick, saying he "did an exceptionial job organizing and executing this year's parade."
"And a huge shout-out," she added, "to all our volunteers, keeping the parade route safe for participants and spectators."
