Early this morning, a couple hundred of the hottest, most exotic street-legal cars you'll find in the entire province will leave Kelowna and make the journey south along Hwy 97 to Penticton.
They'll arrive between 11:30 am and noon and will eventually come to rest at Barefoot Beach Resort, where you can ogle them to your heart's content.
But don't forget to keep one eye on the sky, because at 1 pm, the Canadian Armed Forces Skyhawks Parachute Demonstration team will do their thing directly overhead.
If this all sounds like a pretty big deal, it is.
It's called the Okanagan Dream Rally, and its primary goal isn't merely to impress all us normies who can only "dream" about owning a Lambo or jumping from an airplane for a living. It's to lay some financial assistance on a whole bunch of worthy children.
The rally, you see, benefits Ronald McDonald House BC & Yukon. And the organizers aren't shy about finding ways to do it.
The drivers pay to be in the rally. They pay handsomely, and they pay even more if they want to be up front. Even just riding in a car will cost you. As will your attendance at one of the exclusive before and after soirees.
There are live auctions, there are silent auctions, and there are opportunities to display corporate logos on the participating automobiles. And it all costs big bucks.
And one other thing. Most of the cars will have copilots – some of the very same kids the rally supports. So it's clearly a win-win situation for everyone involved.
Barefoot Beach Resort is at 4145 Skaha Lake Road.
