You've heard of The Masked Singer? In Penticton, we now have The Masked Peach.
The fruity waterfront celebrity, which doubles as an ice cream shop when the weather gets warm, donned the protective gear today.
"Yep, I put it on this morning," said The Peach when asked for comment. "It's a couple days late, but I definitely want to adhere to Dr. Henry's provincial order."
In fact, the new facial accessory won't be 100% complete 'til later today.
"It's almost finished. I still have to put the ear hooks on. I actually don't have any ears, but I'll do my best."
And although it's currently a rather generic covering, The Peach says to expect a more colourful holiday-themed presentation in the near future.
"My hope is to keep it on well through Christmas," explained the vitamin C-laden icon. "Actually, I think sometime in December I'll put on a Christmas-decorated mask. I'll get all Christmassed up."
That left us with one final question: Why wear a mask when you typically hang out at the beach and aren't likely to be indoors anytime soon?
"I really feel like I'm part of the community," answered our accommodating interviewee. "and I definitely want to do my part for Penticton."
Sounds good to us.
Stay tuned to PentictonNow for a facemask vox pop, where we ask local folks their opinions on the new provincial government mandate on indoor mask-wearing.
