If you have old pieces of furniture or an old mattress hanging around, you will get a chance to have it hauled away later this month.
During the week of April 14-18, crews will be collecting large items that are left at the curb.
Residents will be able to place two large items at the curb for pickup by 7 am on their normal garbage collection day.
Unfortunately, multi-family buildings will not be included in the collection event.
Common items include furniture, appliances like refrigerators or stoves, exercise equipment and mattresses.
The items need to be under 200 pounds.
Items that won’t be accepted include gas motors, TVs, hot water tanks and renovation waste like toilets, plumbing fixtures and doors.
Small appliances and electronics will not be collected but can be dropped off for free at J&C Bottle Depot at 200 Rosetown Avenue, PACE Electronics at 105 Martin Street (entrance on Estabrook Ave) or at Campbell Mountain Landfill at 1765 Reservoir Road.
For more information, including a larger list of items that are and are not accepted, visit penticton.ca/garbage.
