We get it. Summer disappeared seemingly overnight and the snowfall that hit us right afterward just won't go away. Seems we're trapped in a purgatory between fall and winter.
But today is not a day to fret about the weather. Or any of the other stuff going on in the world. And that's because locally, this is one wildly happening Saturday.
First up, starting at 11 am this morning and running to 3 pm, is the third annual Kaleden Progressive Winter Market, essentially a "drive around" craft fair in the little waterfront community just south of Penticton.
Vendors -- and there are a lot of them in the artsy Kaleden community -- set up shop in their backyards or garages or driveways, and guests drive around and visit them. The event began during the pandemic as a way of circumnavigating indoor gathering restrictions, and proved so much fun that it’s become a regular thing.
Today, you can expect more than 50 vendors in 20 unique locations across the waterfront community. For more info and a printable map, go here.
Also starting at 11 today but running through to 4 or later is Fall Art Walk 2022, the latest iteration of an idea that kicked off several years ago where Penticton art galleries and studios and even businesses that appreciate the arts put on a one-day open-door exhibit.
Some Art Walks have stretched the length of the city, but the Fall Walk is generally a walkable downtown-ish thing -- with the notable exception, that is, of a trio of key participants over at the Cannery Trade Centre.
For more info on the Fall Art Walk, head here.
Once the Art Walk has ended, you may want to head over to the "Downtown Light Up Festival," a long-time downtown Penticton tradition that's arisen post-pandemic in a new location, in the small green space between City Hall and Gyro Park.
The event begins at 5 and ends two hours later, in the interim delivering live music, family-friendly activities, food trucks, and a "light-up reveal."
How will the Light Up fare in its new digs rather than in its previous location on Main Street? Be there to find out today between 5 pm and 7.

Our final recommendation is a bit more fast paced.
The Penticton Vees are currently running roughshod over the entire BCHL. They haven't lost a game this season, and have currently won 19 straight. They've scored the most goal in the league, effectively doubling that of virtually every other team, and allowed the least. And last night, they dismantled the West Kelowna Warriors 11-2.
Tonight at 6 pm, the Vees take on the Prince George Spruce Kings at the SOEC. For tickets, go here or grab them at the rink.
