UPDATE: Arson suspect arrested after home in Penticton set ablaze

(UPDATE: Sept. 23, 2020) - The Penticton RCMP have shared an update into an arson investigation from August.

Police said that, thanks to numerous tips from the public, a suspect was arrested on Sept. 18, 2020.

He is set to appear in Penticton Provincial Court on Oct. 28, 2020. Charges are to be considered by BC Prosecution Service.

(Original story: Sept. 16, 2020):

Investigators are looking to identify an arson suspect in relation to a structure fire on Martin Street.

On Aug. 30, 2020 at 8 am, the Penticton Fire Department requested police assistance in investigating a fire at a residence located at 686 Martin Street.

Police said an attached garage had apparently been deliberately set on fire, destroying it and all its contents.

There were people inside the residence at the time, but fortunately no one was injured.

Police were able to see surveillance footage of the arson suspect.
