Grass fire caused by Halloween fireworks, says South Okanagan fire department

A fire started in the south Okanagan sparked over the Halloween weekend and is believed to have been caused by fireworks.

The Oliver Fire Department responded to a report of a grass fire at about 9 pm on Oct. 30.

When crews arrived at the scene, the fire had grown to a few acres.

Crews successfully extinguished the blaze, which can be seen to be burning across a road in a post on social media.

No damage to buildings and no injuries were reported.

The fire department reminds residents in Oliver and across the south Okanagan that the region remains under a high fire danger rating.
