This musical gem in the heart of the Okanagan is the perfect local spot to grab a bite and take in some good ol' live entertainment.
Opened by Pierre Couture and Debra Rice in 2001, it began as a comfy spot to come and eat, with books to read and good music playing in the background. It eventually became the venue it is today when live music filled the space in sleepy Penticton, becoming a much-loved regular event.
Located on Colourful Front Street, they hold more than 100 shows a year, showcasing everything from folk, blues, rock, jazz, world music, and spoken word.
Known for it’s cozy, intimate venue, The Dream Café is a place for music lovers to sit and really listen to the performances. As such, it’s also a special venue to musicians as a place where they can truly connect with their audience.
And for those people who need a gentle reminder to keep the chatter to minimum during shows, there are “shush” cards on each table that respectfully ask visitors to be quiet.
As for food, there are plenty of options for every taste, catering to vegans and vegetarians, and carnivores.
Boasting a tasty brunch and show menus developed by a multinational team, the restaurant serves up international flavours in their dishes while still maintaining their Okanagan roots.
It’s also a great place to get a taste of some of the amazing local beer and wine from places like Cannery Brewing, Bad Tattoo Brewing, Pentage Winery, and Kettle Valley Winery.
Described as not only a live music venue, but a community, The Dream Café has earned itself a spot as one of the best blues clubs in Canada. It’s definitely worth checking out if it’s not already one of your local favorites.
