This coming Saturday, Penticton-based mens' recovery program Discovery House continues an important winter tradition when it once again activates a multitude of outdoor Christmas lights at its Winnipeg Street residence.
PentictonNow was reminded of the event today when we drove past the house and saw a bunch of the guys setting up the display.
The illumination activation will come, as it does annually, in the midst of the Discovery House "Shed the Light on Addiction" campaign that ends Dec. 31st.
Folks "purchase" light strings with their donations and then just before Christmas, the juice starts flowing and the exterior of 633 Winnipeg goes from dark to dazzling.
And they'd love to see you there. Not just to watch the lights light up and listen to the VIPs speak, but to grab a hot drink and a treat too.
Indeed, this'll be the first time since pre-pandemic 2019 that the Discovery House kitchen will be open to the public.
To join in the fun, show up Saturday, Dec 17 at the primary Discovery House residence at 633 Winnipeg St. Hot drinks and snacks are served from 4 to 5 pm. The switch is thrown between 5 and 5:15. Santa and various speakers entertain and inform 'til 6.
