An Okanagan woman is facing three impaired and dangerous driving charges for a 2024 crash that killed a 39-year-old man.
On July 31, 2024, just before 8 am, a grey Toyota Echo and a white Ford Explorer crashed on Highway 97 in Oliver. The highway was closed for several hours.
The driver and lone occupant of the Toyota, a 39-year-old man, was killed.
Exactly one year later, after months of investigation, the BC Highway Patrol in Keremeos forwarded a report to the BC Prosecution Service, which approved charges for the driver of the Ford.
Vanessa Lamerias, 30, is facing one charge for dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and one charge for driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs causing death.
She is facing a third charge for impaired driving causing death with a blood concentration containing meth, a news release said.
Police say Lamerias was arrested on July 31 without incident.
She is due in court on Aug. 6 and no other details will be provided by the RCMP.
