Another emergency room in the BC Interior is set to close down temporarily due to a lack of staff.
This time it’s Oliver’s South Okanagan General Hospital that’s affected, which saw the most closures in the whole region last year.
Today’s closure is due to begin at 1 pm and last until 7 pm.
Interior Health sent out its warning about the closure to the media at about 11:50 am, giving residents a little over an hour’s notice.
Anyone in need of urgent care this afternoon has been told to head to Penticton instead.
Other services will be available as usual in Oliver.
Interior Health added: “People in the community who need life-threatening emergency care (i.e., chest pains, difficulty breathing, severe bleeding) should always call 911 for transport to the nearest available and appropriate facility.”
