Interior Health warns of potential Okanagan measles exposures

Interior Health (IH) has issued a warning of potential measles exposures at multiple Okanagan locations in the past week.

The potential exposures occurred between Aug. 31 and Sept. 2 at the following locations in Kelowna, Summerland and Penticton:

  • Aug. 31, 2025 – Lakeside Calvary Chapel and the Summerland Community Centre, 9710 Brown St., Summerland, between 9:00 am – 1:30 pm.
  • Aug. 31, 2025 – Shaughnessy’s Cove Restaurant, 12817 Lakeshore Dr. S, Summerland, between 6:30 pm – closing.
  • Sept. 1, 2025 – Chicko Chicken Restaurant, 564 Truswell Rd., Kelowna, between 6:00 pm – 8:40 pm.
  • Sept. 2, 2025 – McDonald’s, 1804 Main St., Penticton, between noon – 2:30 pm.
  • Sept. 2, 2025 – Walmart, 275 Green Ave. W, Penticton, between 3:30 pm – 6:00 pm.

Anyone at these locations during these times is asked to monitor for symptoms and use this online measles exposure risk assessment tool.

“People who are most at risk of infection are those who are completely unvaccinated against the disease, including children under one year of age,” wrote Interior Health.

“If you think you have symptoms, including a rash, you can call 8-1-1 to speak to a healthcare professional for an initial assessment. If you need to visit a health-care provider, please call ahead so they can take the necessary steps to ensure you don't pass the infection on to others.
