Former New Country 100.7 morning host Roo Phelps publishes tell all breakup book

It’s a voice that you may have woken up to in the past, but now you’ll be reading her words instead.

Roo Phelps, who was a part of the morning show on New Country 100.7 before her sudden departure in May, has published a tell all breakup book.

“I just knew it was time for me to pursue other endeavours, find out what else I could be in the world,” said Phelps.

“I started writing fiction at first, but when the breakup happened, this book just sort of poured out of me.”

Called 11 Weeks - The Real-Time Chronicling Of A Breakup, the concept of the book was born from the general consensus amongst psychologists that it takes a broken heart 11 weeks to heal on average.

Phelps calls it “essentially a diary. A real-time chronicling of that period of my life.”

She says half of her is proud of the the work, while the other half is terrified.

“To give you an idea of how raw it is, I had one literary agent explicitly tell me she felt publishing the book would be detrimental to my reputation, it wouldn’t make my happy,” Phelps explained.

“I believe her exact words at the end were ‘some doors are better left closed.’”

Despite that, Phelps went ahead with the book and it’s received praise for its raw and heartfelt depictions of pain, its candor and humour.

You can find the book for sale on Amazon.
