A North Okanagan gas station is looking to reunite a bride or potential bride-to-be with an engagement ring found on the premises.
On Monday, July 15 an employee at the Quilakwa Esso in Enderby discovered a diamond ring while dusting and organizing the confection rack below the front counter — and now the search is on.
Store manager Nik Vischschraper took to the establishment’s Facebook Page on Monday morning to let the community know of their discovery and to hopefully track down the rightful owner.
While reuniting the ring and owner is of the utmost importance to Vischschraper, he has devised a system to ensure that it doesn’t go home with the first person to claim ownership.
“The ring is being kept in one of our safes, we are asking that the person is able to provide some sort of reasonable proof of ownership, ideally some photos or a receipt,” he said.
“We didn’t want to post a photo and have just anyone say ‘yep that’s my ring’ because I googled the inscription on it and found it what I believe to be it online within minutes — it's around $2,000 so someone is obviously missing it.”
Vischschraper added: “It is obviously something with some sentimental value to someone, and I know I have lost things before and it stinks when you can’t track it down — we want to find the true owner and get it back to them."
It has been three days since the original Facebook post and Vischschraper says he has not yet received any calls.
“We aren’t really sure how long it has actually been here and we haven’t received any calls or messages yet — so if you think it is yours it is best to call ahead and make arrangements to come take a look," he said.
