People who frequent the Kettle Valley Rail Trail (KVR) should be aware of some upcoming maintenance work that begins next week.
The Regional District of Central Okanagan-Similkameen says the “critical” maintenance is being carried out by Recreation Sites and Trails BC.
The work, which was funded by a three-year term grant in 2023, will include the removal of a failing culvert at the KVR and Robison Creek crossing on the “second track,” the RDOS said in a news release.
According to the RDOS, the culvert will be replaced with a clear-span bridge to facilitate the restoration of Robinson Creek.
Work begins on Monday, July 14 and will be happening at kilometre (km) 186.5 on the KVR Trail between the Glenfir parking area (km 192) and the recently opened Adra Tunnel (km 184).

Contractors will start clearing vegetation the week of July 14 before mobilizing equipment at Robinson Creek.
Access to the area will be controlled by spotters and flaggers but recreationists should expect restricted access to the area and some construction traffic.
On-highway vehicle access between the Glenfir parking area and Adra Tunnel won’t be prohibited and there will be detours in place for off-road vehicles that start at the construction site.
Detours will take motorists onto a dedicated bypass trail surface onto the old Elinor Lake Forest Service Road (FSR) alignment, through Rock Ovens Regional Park.
Hikers and cyclist will be directed to a shot bypass near Robinson Creek.a
Other work include the construction of new and upgraded bypass routes, site preparation and removal of soil and stream restoration work.
Work is expected to be done by late fall 2026.
