Youth cycling fundraiser back for year 2 in Kelowna

After a successful inaugural ride in 2018, the Red Devils Cycling Academy Sportif is back for a second year.

Hosted by the Axel Merckx Youth Development Foundation, the mass participation bike ride and barbecue will take place on Sunday, Sept. 9.

The goal of the event is to raise funds to support non-profit youth cycling programs in the Okanagan.

Things will get going at 9 am at Kinsmen Beach Park in Kelowna, with cyclists beginning one of four different distanced rides.

Depending on your age and ability, you can either pick the 18 kilometre, 40 km or 65 km rides, and there’s an option for a 26 km gravel rides as well.

Once the rides are over, participants can kick back and enjoy a barbecue and beer garden, sponsored by Red Bird Brewing Co.

The event is open to all ages and abilities and Olympic medal winner Axel Merckx will be on hand and participating in the ride.
