Newhook spent two seasons in Victoria, recording 201 points on 74 goals and 187 assists over 125 games for the club from 2017-2019, before moving on to star at Boston College where he would lead the Eagles to a pair of conference championships.

The St. John’s, NL product was originally drafted by Colorado with the 16th overall selection in the first round of the 2019 NHL Draft, joining the club as a full-time player during the 2020-2021 season.

He recorded 33 points on 13 goals and 20 assists in 71 games for Colorado during the 2021-2022 regular season, helping them to secure a number-one seed ahead of this year’s playoffs.

Newhook would appear in 12 games for the Avs during the postseason, registering four assists.

In addition to becoming the second former Grizzly to lift the cup, Newhook is just the third Newfoundlander to achieve the feat, joining former Boston Bruin Michael Ryder and former Detroit Red Wing Danny Cleary.
