Shamrocks add defender Bennett Smith to 2023 roster

The Victoria Shamrocks boosted their back end earlier this week, adding defender Bennett Smith to the roster for the upcoming 2023 season.

Bennett currently plays collegiately for the Queen’s University of Charlotte Royals NCAA Division I men’s lacrosse team and spent last summer with the Edmonton Miners of the Rocky Mountain Junior A Lacrosse League, leading them to a Minto Cup finals berth.

‘Rocks General Manager Chris Welch believes Smith could be a stalwart on the defensive end for years to come:

“We couldn't be happier to add a player of Bennett Smith's calibre to our young lineup,” said Welch. “He's an elite player who was widely sought after and there's no doubt he has a very bright future in our sport. I know our fans are really going to appreciate what a special player he is and enjoy watching him play in the green and white for hopefully a long time to come.”

The Shamrocks 2023 season is set to begin on May 26 with a matchup against the Langley Thunder at the Q Centre in Colwood.
