The Coyotes entered the year-end tournament as the number one seed after finishing with a 21-10 record.

Not far behind were the UFV Cascades, who finished the regular season with an 18-12 record.

Both teams cruised through the playoffs before facing each other in the semifinals.

The Cascades dominated the Coyotes and took the game with a score of 11-1.

While the Cascades rested, the Coyotes took on Edmonton Collegiate for a second chance at reaching the finals.

The Coyotes booked their ticket to the finals with a 5-3 win, setting themselves up with another date against UFV.

OC was first on the board with a trio of runs in the fourth inning before the Cascades took a 5-4 lead going into the eighth inning.

The Coyotes found their stride in the eighth, scoring five runs to take a 9-4 lead.

But the Cascades still had gas left in the tank and tied the game with a three-run outing.

Pitching dominated the extra innings before Kelowna’s Brady Renneberg stepped to the plate for the Cascades.

Renneberg sent the ball flying to left field as the championship-clinching run came in to score for the 10-9 win.

After the tournament, Ryan Dousett, Teagan Ribbink and Connor Richards received first-team all-conference honours.
