Kelowna Curling Club to host Olympic qualification event in December

Fresh off the 2025 Montana’s Brier, Kelowna has been tabbed to host another significant curling event this year.

World Curling announced this morning that the Kelowna Curling Club will host the Olympic Qualification Event for men’s, women’s and mixed doubles from Dec. 6-19, 2025.

At that time, the top eight teams in each event will have already qualified for the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games.

That means there will be two spots open in each event that will be decided in Kelowna during this competition.

“We are looking forward to another excellent partnership with the Kelowna Curling Club as we return for the Olympic Qualification Event 2025,” said Beau Welling, World Curling president.

“This event will clearly be very important for the teams involved, as they try to secure the final spots available for the Milano Cortina Winter Olympic Games 2026.”

The KCC has successfully hosted several World Curling events in the past, including the World Women’s in 1986, World Juniors in 2002 and World Mixed in 2018.

Most recently, the club with 12 sheets and seating for over 1,000 spectators, making it one of the largest and most active curling clubs in the world, hosted the Pan Continental Curling Championships in 2023.

“Kelowna is very excited to welcome the world back to Kelowna — the Pan Continental left a lasting impression on the city,” said KCC GM Jock Tyre.

“Being a precursor to the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games will make this a huge must-see event for curling enthusiasts.”
