The start of the 2024 Young Stars Classic in Penticton is just three days away.
Top prospects from all four Western Canadian NHL teams will be in the South Okanagan to participate in the annual showcase.
It’s a chance for them to showcase their skills as they try to crack the roster, either this year or down the line, and a chance for fans to see some future NHL stars in person.
Today, the Vancouver Canucks announced the 25-player roster that will be sent to Penticton for the tournament and it features a few notable names.
Headlining the list are a pair of exciting Swedish prospects in 2022 first-round pick Jonathan Lekkerimäki and 2022 third-round pick Elias Pettersson.
Unfortunately, Tom Willander, the Canucks’ first-round pick in 2023, will not be participating because he’s an NCAA player.
Other players to keep an eye on include Arshdeep Bains, Vilmer Alriksson, Josh Bloom, Riley Patterson, Aatu Räty, Kirill Kudryavstev, Akito Hirose and Sawyer Mynio.
