The Kelowna community can expect some more great musical performances throughout the city this week.
With the Parks Alive! events organized by Festivals Kelowna, a variety of artists will be showcasing their talent on various stages between Aug. 1 and 5.
Kicking off the week will be a couple of bluegrass bands at Whitman Glen Park on Tuesday.
Thymely will take the stage at 6:30 pm, with The Trippin’ Lankies playing their set at 7:30 pm.
Island Stage at Waterfront Park will celebrate retro rock on Wednesday.
The Harshmellows will open the evening with some classic rock at 6 pm, and The Silverbacks will headline the show with alternative rock tunes at 7:45 pm.
Thursday’s “Arts on the Avenue” will be hosted at Kerry Park and along Bernard Avenue, where artists of all disciplines will be taking over the street and sidewalks for an evening of artistic revelry.
There will be visual and performance art activities, shopping and live performances from 5 to 9 pm.
The weekend will be all about funk and rhythm and blues at the Kelowna Pride Stage at Kerry Park.
On Friday, the bluesy duo Steppin’ Out will open the concert at 7 pm.
Vibetown, a five-piece country funk and blues band will perform at 8:15 pm, and the four-piece jazz funk Goldsauce will follow at 9:30 pm.
Saturday will feature funk tunes by Brayden Wright at 7 pm, funk and rhythm and blues by Jayson Bendera Band at 8:15 pm, and rhythm and blues by The Organic Humans Band at 9:30 pm.
The events are free, but donations are welcome and will be directed back into the program to help deliver accessible, high-calibre, live entertainment to the community.
