The Professional Bull Riders Cup series is returning to the Okanagan this summer.
For the second season in a row, the PBR series will buck its way into Kelowna on July 20.
The series, which regularly features some of Canada’s best riders, will be stopping at Prospera Place for one night only as some of the country's top riders square off against the “rankest” bucking bulls from across the nation.
“For one night only, fans will witness exhilarating 8-second rides and wrecks throughout the action-packed event as the PBR’s courageous bull-riding athletes face off against their 2,000-pound opponents bred to buck,” says a release from Prospera.
The Kelowna event marks the sixth event of the 10-event 2023 season. These bull riders will only be visiting five other towns across the country.
This year’s series is expected to be one of the most intense in PBR Canada’s history. Last year, nine riders traveled to the finals where Nick Tetz of Calgary emerged as the 2022 PBR Canada Champion, surpassing regular-season No. 1 Dakota Buttar of Kindersley, Saskatchewan.
Tetz is on pace to make history as the first rider to win the PBR Canada Championship in consecutive seasons.
Courtesy of an event win at the second tour stop of the season in Lethbridge, Tetz is No. 2 in Canada, only 8 points behind the top position.
Jared Parsonage of Maple Creek, Saskatchewan currently holds the No. 1 rank in the nation, a position largely earned via his Cup Series event win in Red Deer.
Tickets for this event go on sale on Friday, April 14 at 10 am at the Prospera Place box office or at SelectYourTickets.com.
There is also a PBR Boots N’ Brews pre-party outside Prospera from 4 pm to 6 pm. There will live music, a barbecue, beer garden and more. Tickets can be purchased alongside main event tickets.
