The Dead South have played multiple shows in Kelowna, but never like this.
The four-piece folk-bluegrass band out of Saskatchewan will bring their iconic sound back to the Central Okanagan later this year.
Over the years, their Kelowna shows have continued to grow in size and this time they’ll be playing at the city’s largest indoor venue.
They’ll take the stage for what should be a lively and exciting show at Prospera Place on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024.
It’s one of the newly-announced dates on their Chains & Stakes World Tour 2024, which will take them all over the globe this year.
The tour begins in Ohio next month and The Dead South will play several shows in the United States before heading to Australia and Europe.
They’ll return to North America in August to finish things up with a multi-month run through the US and Canada, which includes the Kelowna show in early November.
A confident sound would be a fitting way to describe the band, as they love to get audiences moving with banjo rolls, mandolin tremolos and three-part harmonies.
Both their song themes and on-stage outfits are from a different time and it’s something their loyal fans have embraced over the years.
“Confirmed by the passion of their Dead South cosplaying fans, who go to concerts in the band’s signature look, this four-piece acoustic set from the middle of the Canadian prairies has found their people,” notes a release from Live Nation.
“As they continue their climb to the top, The Dead South have learned an important lesson: If you’re going to be outsiders, you’d better be great.”
Tickets to see The Dead South in Kelowna will go on sale through Live Nation at 10 am on Friday, Jan. 19.
