Oh Canada! A weekend in Kelowna chock-full of events

Jeepers, we've already wrapped up June and are into July.

Although it feels like summer is passing us by, don’t worry because we’ve put together a full guide on things for you to do this Canada Day weekend.

There’s always lots going on around town, and you can check out local Kelowna events on our page here or you can even add your own!

But for the sake of having everyone on the same page, we’ve put together a grand list of things for you and the pals to do over the next few days.


Celebrate Canada Day - Kelowna - July 1

After a two-year pause due to the pandemic, Festivals Kelowna is excited to announce their return with a full day of festivities for the entire family on July 1.

The annual celebration will be returning to Waterfront Park, Prospera Place, Stuart Park, and Kelowna’s Cultural District on Friday, with activities starting at 11:00 am and running until the fireworks display at 10 pm.

They got live music, food trucks, a kids zone, local vendors and a whole lot of free, family-friendly activities going on all day.

Sncewips Heritage Museum - Monday to Friday

Those looking to take a step back into history and experience the Okanagan from a Syilx perspective can book a tour through the Sncewips Heritage Museum.

During the Tour, you may learn about the land, traditional tools and dwellings, cultural practices, storytelling, the impact of colonization, Westbank First Nation’s self-government, and much more!

The museum is open from 10 to 4 Monday through Friday, so there are so many opportunities to experience the collections, histories, and oral stories of the Syilx people.

From Warhol to Banksy - Every day until Oct. 16

Looking for a reason to hit the Kelowna Art Gallery, well right now they’ve got a crazy pop art exhibit that you just don’t want to miss.

From now until October, you can browse through 75 notable pieces of pop art from Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol, Jeff Koons, Tom Wesselmann, Takashi Murakami, Banksy and Mr. Brainwash.

While you can purchase tickets to the gallery at the front door, on Canada Day admission is waived to allow Kelowna residents a chance to explore the crazy collections of work!

From 10 to 4 on July 1st, the Art Gallery will also be hosting a variety of Canadian-themed craft activities for the littles!

Meet Me on Bernard - July 1 - Sept. 5

While Meet Me on Bernard officially opens to the public on July 1, the grand opening celebration doesn’t happen until July 5.

Bernard Avenue will be shut down from the iconic Sails all the way down to St. Paul St. for the remainder of the summer.

This allows for pedestrians and cyclists to take over the walkway, as it features live music, sunny patios, innovative public art, local retail, street games, free programs and much more that can be found online here.

It also allows for the Kelowna Farmers and Crafters Market to take over every Sunday from 9 to 2.

Caliente Summer Party - July 2

Tamm Mexican Restaurant is bringing the biggest and best Latin nights to the Okanagan!

Experience a variety of Salsa, Bachata, Reggaeton, Merengue and Cumbia in an unbelievable mix of exotic music and dance styles.

The Caliente Latin Party is sure to transport those 19 and older to a tropical paradise where the partying lasts all night long!

Vibes at the Vine - Every Saturday and Sunday until Sept.

Head on down to The Vibrant Vine winery for a day filled with live music down in the orchard.

During the warmer months, you can grab a lawn chair, sit back and relax with a glass of vino while listening to local musicians.

While Friday’s artist has yet to be named they got Natalie Herle playing on July 2, and Bo Higgs taking the stage on July 3, both from 1 to 4 pm.

Penticton RIBFEST - July 1 - 3

Take a quick drive to Penticton this weekend to indulge in three full days of BBQ heaven.

Watch as Champion barbecue teams from across Canada compete for the title of best ribs, at the Penticton Ribfest.

Organized by the Rotary Club of Penticton, this event draws over 35,000 people for a weekend of good times, good music and great food.

Admission is free down at Skaha Lake Park all weekend long.

Penticton Scottish Festival - July 2

The Penticton Scottish Festival is a unique one-day event that combines traditional Scottish Highland Games of musical and athletic competition with Celtic cultural expos of entertainment and family fun.

Enjoy Pipe Band Competitions, an Entertainment Stage, and a Ceilidh to round out the festivities!

Head on down to King’s Park in Penticton from 8 to 6 for a full day of activities!

Adult Beach Water Polo - Every Sunday from July to August

Looking to get active this summer or try your hand at a new sport, well now you can register for the Adult Sunday Practice and Scrimmage.

Each Sunday during July & August 2021, Kelowna Water Polo Club will organize a drop-in scrimmage at Tugboat beach.

These refereed sessions will encourage fun gameplay for all levels from beginner to experienced players. The aim is to play fun games of water polo that are accessible and enjoyable for everyone who turns up.
