Halloween is fast approaching, and it’s time to start carving those pumpkins! That’s because the RDCO is bringing back it’s jack-o-lantern walk at Mission Creek Regional Park on Oct. 30!
Drop off your carved pumpkins on Oct. 29 from 1-4pm at the Environmental Education Centre for the Okanagan (EECO) if you’re looking to participate in this year's pumpkin walk.
Prizes will be awarded for the scariest, most original, cutest, strangest, and funniest carved pumpkins with winners being notified on Oct. 31.
If carving pumpkins isn’t your thing, the community is still encouraged to come out dressed in Halloween costumes and tour the paths lit by jack-o-lanterns on Oct. 30 and vote for your favorites!
In support of the Central Okanagan Community Food Bank, visitors to the pumpkin walk are welcome to drop off a non-perishable food donation.
For everyone’s safety and to provide smooth traffic flow in the park, starting at 4:30 pm on the 30th there will be one way traffic in the parking lot. All vehicles must enter Mission Creek Regional Park at Leckie Rd and leave by the Durnin Rd right turn exit onto Springfield Rd.
People are asked to bring along flashlights to navigate the dark paths in the evening.
Pumpkins not picked up at the end of the event will be donated to local farmers to feed chickens and farm animals.
