It’s going to be a warm weekend all across British Columbia, which makes it the perfect time for Good Lemonade Day.
The annual fundraiser will see nearly 70 lemonade stands pop up in communities all over the province on Saturday.
All of these stands will have the same goal, beyond providing people with a refreshing drink, and that is to raise money for Kelowna’s JoeAnna’s House.
Good Lemonade Day was created by a team of Kelowna volunteers in 2022 to raise money for the home away from home for families who have a loved one receiving care at Kelowna General Hospital.
The first two years each raised more than $17,500 and this year’s goal is to up that total to $20,000, or close to it.
“Every year gets better and better,” said Amy Nunn, a volunteer for Good Lemonade Day from Prestige Hotels and Resorts.
“The families continue to have an amazing time and kids feel so good about themselves knowing they’ve helped raise money for a wonderful charity.”
While the majority of participating lemonade stands are in Kelowna, there will be people getting in on the fun in Fernie, Cranbrook, Trail, Comox, Prince George, Genelle, Vernon, Coldstream and Salmon Arm as well.
In addition, every Prestige Hotels and Resorts’ property across BC will have a lemonade stand set up.
While there is no map to discover where family-run lemonade stands will be located, Nunn says most have been putting up posters in their neighbourhood.
For those who haven’t seen much sign of those and are looking to support the initiative, they’re encouraged to go to a Prestige property in their city between 11 am and 3 pm.
If you’re in Kelowna, you can also stop by the main lemonade stand at JoeAnna’s House between 10 am and 2 pm.
