Kelowna Rotary Clubs raise impressive sum for another year of supporting the community

A group of Kelowna’s Rotary Clubs joined together on Saturday night to host the city’s fourth Bollywood Gala.

Nearly 200 guests filed into a brilliantly decorated Okanagan Mission Community Hall for a night of culture, socializing and philanthropy.

Attendees enjoyed traditional East Indian cuisine, Bollywood dancing and both the live and silent auction with hot ticket items like a trip to Fiji up for grabs.

The over $50,000 garnered through the event is set to be used by the Rotary to “strategically plan” their upcoming year according to Stuart Dickson, president-elect for the Rotary Club of Kelowna, to support the Rotary in continuing on with their vital community and international initiatives.

“The funds go towards supporting creative people and their endeavors, like Mamas for Mamas, camps, and the types of things in the community that government agencies just aren’t available to do,” said Dickson.

Donors could request which branch of the Rotary their funds would specifically support and many chose to bolster the international projects such as Do Some Good — to help with water and sanitation projects in
India.

The sold out event was one for the books, and if you were unable to attend, you can still make time to enjoy one of the many upcoming Rotary events which you can find listed on their website.
