Here’s everything you need to know ahead of the first ever Kelowna Beer Fest today

Four years after the final Great Okanagan Beer Fest, a new locally-produced event celebrating the region’s craft beer scene is ready to make its debut today.

The first ever Kelowna Beer Fest will be held at City Park from 1-7 pm.

It will be a true kick-off-to-summer party and the forecast is perfect, as it’s expected to be around 30°C under sunny skies.

There will be 35 breweries and cideries on site, along with food trucks, games and local DJs to add to the fun.

The event is sold out, which means there will be no tickets sold at the door, but for those who have secured their pass, here are a few things you’ll want to know:

  • The entrance to Kelowna Beer Fest will be near the skate park and water park.
  • Once you enter, you’ll be given a 3D printed 100% biodegradable KBF cup that is eight ounces in size.
  • You can buy tokens at one of four booths inside the festival at a cost of $3 each.
  • A single token gets you a four-ounce fill, but you can also pay two tokens if you want to get your cup filled to the brim.
  • BNA Brewing will set up a tasty burger station and PNB sandwiches from a new restaurant that is coming to Kelowna soon.
  • There will also be plenty of food trucks: Surfside California Tacos, Poutine Eh!, Pokélowne, Broken Anchor and Alchemy Bread Pretzels. There will be gluten-free and vegetarian options available.
  • Non-alcoholic drink options will be available: Karma Soda, Motherlove Kombucha
  • No outside food or beverages are permitted. You can bring an empty water bottle and there is a filling station available.
  • You are welcome to bring lawn chairs and picnic blankets to set up shop within the festival grounds, but be mindful and don’t set up near beer vendor lines.
  • No pets are allowed except for guide or service dogs, which you can email organizers about.
  • Parking is first come first serve at City Park and is expected to fill up fast, so people are advised to find a spot downtown and walk over. DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE.
  • The event is wheelchair accessible.
  • Local DJs will be providing beats all day long: DJ Invizible and Meems

Organizers have also urged people to be responsible with their alcohol consumption and warned that lewd conduct or over drinking will not be tolerated.

People in violation of that can be denied entry to the site or removed from the grounds.

“Thick as Thieves Entertainment reserves the right to refuse admittance or evict anyone who creates a disturbance, causes a nuisance or breaks any of the rules outlined here without refund of admission,” they explained.

“Your behavior will be indicative of whether or not you’re able to attend KBF in future years, fighting or aggressive/rude behavior will not be tolerated.”

Police will be on site and patrolling the downtown area, so be sure to behave and keep the event fun for everyone.
