Good Lemonade Day, in support of JoeAnna’s House, is this Saturday, June 3.
There will be more than 70 lemonade stands throughout 17 communities in BC, with most of them in the Central Okanagan.
JoeAnna’s House, founded by Prestige Hotels and Resorts, is a home-away-from-home that provides accommodation to families traveling to Kelowna for a loved one’s hospital care. It was named in honour of Josef and Anna Huber.
A map that includes the addresses of all participating lemonade stands is available online, and community members are encouraged to stop by one of them between 11 am and 3 pm to support the cause.
Saturday’s event will be the second of its kind, with the first organized in 2022 by a group of Kelowna volunteers who wanted to design a creative fundraiser that encourages children and youth to think of others.
Over $17,000 was raised on Good Lemonade Day in 2022.
Hailey Harfman and her 13-year-old daughter, Taylor, held a very successful stand in Kelowna.
Taylor wanted to participate because the event paired her love of hosting lemonade stands with her love of connecting with people.
“She loved the opportunity to chat,” Hailey said.
“Taylor loved the autonomy of running her own stand, collecting donations and serving people a cool drink on a hot day.”
The title sponsor of this year’s event is Laing Service and Maintenance, and every Prestige Hotels and Resorts property in the province will be hosting a lemonade stand.
All funds raised will go directly to JoeAnna’s House, which will also have a lemonade stand on Saturday.
