Car Cruise meant to replace Father’s Day Car Show now cancelled as well

After having to cancel the Boyd Autobody & Glass Father’s Day Charity Car Show in 2020, organizers made sure to come up with a backup plan early this year.

The result was a Car Cruise, which would give the community a safer viewing experience, instead of the usual Car Show that attracts tens of thousands of car enthusiasts from all around the region.

Unfortunately, as health restrictions on gatherings continue, neither the Car Show and Car Cruise are a realistic option this summer.

That means, for the second straight year, the popular event will be cancelled.

“While the Car Show has always provided a great family outing for Father’s Day, we understand that now is not the time to be doing anything that encourages people to travel or gather,” said Methal Abougoush, GM of Boyd Autobody & Glass Kelowna.

“We will be back next year bigger and better than ever. But in the meantime, we are glad we can still support the Child Advocacy Centre and help make a difference for the kids who need their help.”

Abougoush is referring to the Child Advocacy Centre Car Raffle, which will still take place over the coming weeks despite the pandemic.

On June 20, one lucky ticket holder will be driving home a 2010 Chevy Camaro 2LT, which was donated as a prize by Boyd Autobody & Glass.

Other sponsors like Elite Auto Centre, Andre’s Electronic Experts, Budget Brake and Muffler, Sign Craft, CIC OK Tire, Lordco Auto Parts and PPG helped customize the vehicle as well.

The deadline to buy tickets is June 20 at noon, one hour before the grand prize draw, and they can be purchased for $25, or five for $100, by clicking this link.
