Thick as Thieves Entertainment announced last month that Denim on the Diamond would not be happening in its traditional form this year.
Instead, the local production company is teaming up with the Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) for a similar event to be held during Country Music Week in Kelowna.
Typically held over three days at City Park, the special-edition Denim will instead be two days and take place just up the road at the freshly-renovated stage in Waterfront Park.
Today, more details have been released, as the collaboration between the CCMA and Denim on the Diamond will be called CCMA House: Live at Waterfront Park presented by Beem Credit Union.
“Kelowna’s stunning waterfront provides the perfect backdrop for a celebration of community, connection, and the incredible depth of talent in country music,” said CCMA President Amy Jeninga.
“CCMA House: Live at Waterfront Park will be a one-of-a-kind experience, and we can’t wait to bring Country Music Week to life in such a vibrant and welcoming city.”
It will be held on Friday, Sept. 12, and Saturday, Sept. 13, with non-stop country music courtesy of several exciting Canadian artists.
The lineup features: Jade Eagleson, Andrew Hyatt, James Barker Band, Alexandra Kay, JoJo Mason, Madeline Merlo, Tyler Joe Miller, Jess Moskaluke, Meghan Patrick, MacKenzie Porter, Restless Road, Owen Riegling, SACHA, Thelma & James and The Washboard Union.
“This event is about celebrating Canadian country music in one of the most beautiful venues in the country,” said Mitch Carefoot, co-founder of Thick as Thieves Entertainment.
“Partnering with the CCMA to bring this vision to life in Kelowna is a dream. Fans are in for something special.”
Brian Harris, CEO of Beem Credit Union, the event’s title sponsor, noted that his company believes that the strongest communities are built on “shared experiences and local pride.”
“Presenting CCMA House: Live at Waterfront Park allows us to bring people together through the power of music right here in Kelowna, celebrating Canadian talent and creating unforgettable moments that connect us all,” he explained.
Tickets to the two-day event will go on sale Friday. A two-day pass will cost just over $140 and VIP passes are available for $400, both before tax.
