All tenants safe after Mission house fire early this morning

More than a dozen firefighters helped put out a blaze at a Kelowna property early this morning.

All four tenants of the home, which is in the 4300 block of Lakeshore Road, were already safely outside of the building when emergency services arrived.

The Kelowna Fire Department was called at about 3:30 am.

They sent four engines, a rescue truck, command vehicle and 18 firefighters.

Attack crews extinguished the fire, which was in one of the bedrooms of the home’s basement.

One of the pets in the home is yet to be accounted for.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated.

Firefighters asked that residents check their smoke alarms regularly to ensure fires are caught early.
