(Original story: July 22 @ 9 am): Mounties in Kamloops have asked for the public’s help after a woman said she was sexually assaulted in the city.

It happened just after midnight on July 18 at 5th Ave and Victoria St.

The woman said that, when she was getting into her vehicle, a man jumped in with her.

He then sexually assaulted her and stole her cell phone, she told police.

Because she was able to honk her horn and yell, the woman said the suspect fled westbound through an alley between Seymour and Victoria Streets.

Her phone was later recovered by police.

The RCMP has provided the following description of the suspect:

  • White

  • 30s

  • Raspy voice

  • Wearing dark clothing with orange stripes down the arms

“Our team of investigators has been working diligently, collecting surveillance and witness statements, as well as examining any forensic evidence available,” said Const. Crystal Evelyn.

Anyone with information who has not yet spoken with police is asked to call Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file number 2021-24462.
