UPDATE: #FindRyanShtuka reward increased to $15K

(UPDATE: March 12 @ noon) — The parents of Ryan Shtuka have increased the reward offered for information leading to the recovery of their son.

The family is now offering a reward of $15,000 in hopes someone will come forward with the whereabouts of 20-year-old Shtuka, who has been missing since Feb. 17. They had initially posted a reward of $5,000.

A specialized search and rescue team was at Sun Peaks last week combing the area where Shtuka went missing, but mother Heather said the they found nothing. The Canadian Search and Disaster Dogs Association did its final rounds on Saturday morning.

"Our fantastic CASDDA volunteers left after searching a bit this morning," Heather Shtuka said on Facebook on March 10. "Their leader apologized for not finding him. I thanked her for all her efforts."

She said the family decided to increase the reward after "some serious contemplation and no new leads."

Ryan Shtuka was last seen leaving a party on Burfield Drive in Sun Peaks at 2:10 a.m. on Feb. 17. Anyone with information on his disappearance is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

A Go Fund Me campaign to support search efforts and Shtuka's parents, who live in Beaumont, Alta. but have vowed to stay in Sun Peaks until Shtuka is found, has raised more than $60,000. To donate, go here.

(STORY Feb. 27) — The search to find Ryan Shtuka has entered day 10 at Sun Peaks, and the family is now offering a $5,000 reward for any information leading to his location.

Friends, family and community volunteers continue to comb the area of Burfield Drive where Shtuka was last seen early on Saturday, Feb. 17. He left a party at 2:10 a.m. to walk a short distance home, but did not show up for work later that day.

A Go Fund Me campaign to support the family and search efforts has now raised $41,276 and the #RibbonsforRyan initiative is spreading in cities in B.C. and Alberta, including Shtuka's hometown of Beaumont, Alta.

The green ribbons have become a calling card for the search, a grassroots effort to spread the word and collect donations.
