Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) crews and equipment are at the site of a train derailment that occurred along Kamloops Lake Saturday evening.
According to the rail company, the train derailed just before 7 pm, approximately 20 kilometres west of Kamloops last night and there were no injuries.
While the cause of the derailment is under investigation, clean-up efforts have begun as some of the approximately 17 cars and one locomotive involved in the incident are carrying products.
Four of the cars are loaded with fuel, five are carrying gypsum, a powder product used in drywall, and one is carrying pulp products. The other cars are empty, including three that last contained gasoline.
CPKC did not specify how much, but did say that some product had leaked from two of the loaded fuel cars. A containment boom has been deployed at the site.

An update from the Thompson-Nicola Regional District (TNRD) stated that there is currently no risk anticipated to the Savona community water system.
“There are other privately-owned domestic water systems that use Kamloops Lake as an intake, including Tobiano," wrote the district.
“Private water system providers are working with Interior Health to assess potential impacts; if you have questions about a private water system, contact your water system provider.”
