“Officers were on scene within minutes of receiving the call and learned that the suspect was attempting to leave the store with a cart full of unpaid groceries. When staff confronted the suspect, he brandished a screwdriver and threatened the staff with it,” said police.

The staff members were not physically harmed.

The suspect, who is identified as a 34-year-old man, had fled the store on foot and wound up jumping into a large dumpster nearby in an apparent attempt to hide from police.

He was, however, located and arrested for robbery without further incident, and he has been remanded into custody until Jan 30, 2023.
