The collision caused the white sedan to veer off-road, into some bushes and crashed into a tree.

The other car, a grey sedan, went over a curb and crashed into a fence. The drivers were the only occupants of each vehicle.

“A preliminary investigation has determined that the driver of a grey sedan entered the roadway from a driveway when it collided with a white sedan travelling southbound on Interurban Road,” explained the Saanich Police.

One of the drivers sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital.

The other driver sustained serious, life-threatening injuries and remains in hospital.

Interurban Road between Wilkinson Road and Grange Road was closed to all traffic until 4:30 am this morning. The cause of the collision is still under investigation.

Anyone that witnessed the collision or events leading up to the collision is asked to contact the Saanich Police at 250-475-4321. Investigators are also seeking dash-camera footage of events leading up to the crash.
