The Nest, formally known as the Nest Nectar, has reopened with a new look and a recovery fund for their staff.
While temporarily closed for the last few months due to the COVID-19 pandemic, owner Randy Foster took the time to re-evaluate the restaurant’s mission statement and operations “to bring it back to what he believes in most.”
“We are excited to welcome you back to our restaurant when you are ready, introduce you to our elevated service and a refreshed menu that offers something new to Penticton,” said Foster.
While there is a fresh new menu and new look, there has also been some work done to take care of the staff.
Foster created a recovery fund to help any staff members who struggled while the restaurant was closed.
“The ability to do that starts with our staff and making sure they are well taken care of,” said Foster.
“We will pool a portion of funds from each delivery, takeout and gratuities from those orders to distribute to the staff. It is important to me to recognize that the past few months have been difficult for our staff, who are like family to me, and help them recover.”
As for the menu, The Nest is taking a support local approach by sourcing ingredients from Okanagan farmers.
Foster says he has 11 Okanagan farmers that he buys ingredients from and a rotating menu that reflects what is in season to ensure everything is of the freshest quality.
The addition of more plant-based choices is also coming soon.
The Nest will look a little different to returning customers.
The work to the exterior and interior of the restaurant continues, as the outside of the building will be repainted to reflect their new brand and atmosphere.
The restaurant is sitting tables inside seven feet apart and the large garage doors to the patio seating provide an airy atmosphere — giving guests a little more comfort.
Enhanced cleaning protocols are also in place, and they will be allowing only six people per table.
The Nest is open for brunch from Tuesday to Sunday from 10 am to 2 pm and will resume dinner service starting Thursday, June 11 running Thursday to Sunday from 4 pm to 8 pm.
